The Banteng was introduced to the Territory in the 1840’s. They were kept as a source of meat but when the original colony failed about 20 head were turned loose on Cobourg Peninsular. As the meat leaves you with a bit of a waxy feeling in your mouth they have not really been hunted by the Local aboriginal people and the herd has been left to breed un-disturbed.
Australia is the only place in the world that you can hunt the Banteng. GOE is one of only three operators that have the rights to hunt free
range Banteng in the wild. We do not sub contract our banteng hunts under another operator’s concession.
These animals are incredible to hunt as they have a keen sense of smell and hearing, and with bulls growing 700kg+ they really are Dangerous game.
